Accessing Support With Interpreters

Do you require an interpreter?

Advocacy:

We work with interpreters to provide appointments with the advocacy service. If you require an interpreter, please ensure it is stated on your referral form (you will be asked whether one is needed and what language you prefer to speak in). More information about our advocacy service can be found here.

Counselling:

We work with interpreters to provide appointments within the counselling service. If you require an interpreter, please ensure it is stated on your referral form (you will be asked whether one is needed and what language you prefer to speak in). More information on our counselling service can be found here.

More about interpreting support:

The interpreter we book will be a woman.

We will need a contact email or phone number so we can contact the service user to check that the interpreter is suitable before we confirm the appointment.

SARSVL will contact the service user to provide her with the name of the interpreter and to ask whether the named interpreter is suitable for her. There is a chance that she may know the interpreter, in which case she is entitled to request a different interpreter.

We’re here for you.

We work mostly with Leeds City Council Interpreting and Translation Team. If you’d like to check if they provide services in your language, you can contact them directly via 0113 336 7800  or email interpreting@leeds.gov.uk to see if they provide a service in your language.
